Unboxing - two wheelers

Soap Box

We're getting into more unboxing sessions here in Oz, but I'm finding that a lot of these unboxing stuff is costing me more time.

We have a lot of old stuff that just needs to disappear, one of these is an old single bed that we don't use anymore but have some seriously big bolts that need to be loosened to take the frame apart. Unfortunately, having been gone since the beginning of time, any tools that may have been collected at this house no longer exists. Fortunately, I had to go and get some new tools for this deconstruction job, which just fell into place because GrandPa decided that his grand kids were disadvantaged by not having their own:

The old guy is great, but this construction work didn't come with the correct tools (presumably because even though it is marketed for the do-it-yourself audience buying IKEA furniture, they really don't want you to put it together for warranty/insurance reasons.)

Two bikes arrived with Grand Pa one Saturday noon, and dad now had something injected into his schedule because Grand Pa wasn't putting the thing together, and you know the kids are hanging out to get their bikes for riding. Arrghh.

Pulling the stuff out of the boxes, and laying them out was the easy part.

The instructions weren't the clearest around, which seems to be part of the course when you're installing stuff manufactured in Asia.

Fortunately for dad, and the kids, the bikes got put together semi-usefully. It was funny when they first got running around the lounge/kitchen.

Ma'ata was riding around cool wise (so far as you can look cool while riding with training wheels?) Sisitoutai has lead feet, so he was having problems with getting his body to give the right commands to the bicycle to move forward. Weird behaviour on Sisitoutai's part since he has a bicycle he's been riding in Tonga.

In any case, whenever Ma'ata got off her bicycle, Sisitoutai would jump off his and run to the other bike, because "this one works."

The one fatal flaw with riding bicycles in the house ? The walls are beginning to peel their covering. We can now add tyre marks as the things that need to be washed off the wall.

Sesilia can't ride a bicycle, let alone here little bike thing, but she has no problems running around in front and behind the elder two just plain getting in the way and having a ball.
