Registry hack removed as unnecessary. Monologue also removed.
Note: This is relevant for those wishing to use MoveableType and Windows Live Writer, if you only want to use Metaweblog or Blogger, then you do not need to read these instructions.
Alright, after two days of being stupid and help from the Windows Live Writer (WLW) Forum I've finally got WLW auto-discovering Xaraya/nomoa.com but it requires a few little fiddles to work correctly. Hopefully we can make it fully automated so I can get some users on other sites running Xaraya.
In the meantime, the steps below can help you configure your current Xaraya 1.1.2 site to work with Windows Live Writer.
The key things to getting Windows Live Writer to work with Xaraya/Nomoa.com using Moveable Type is:
Auto-discovery isn't working properly for Xaraya, as far as I can deign for the moment, so don't use it and it will save you a lot of hassle.
Unfortunately, if you put in the proper address for your Xaraya blog, it wont let you edit to a custom installation.
For Weblog Homepage URL:
specify the non-existent http://www.example.org
For Username/Password:
Enter your correct username/password to use with your proper blog.
We are using http://www.example.org because that is a restricted domain name (i.e. no-one is supposed to be using it) so it should quickly error-out (fail to connect to the website) and let you continue with manually configuring your settings.
Click the "Next" button.
We now have a dialog box that let's us select the type of server we are using.
For Type of weblog that you are using (Select Weblog Provider)
Select the "Moveable Type" option, although I don't know what the difference is between that, and the [Custom (Moveable Type API)]
For Remote posting URL for your weblog,
Enter your host information with the following format:
http://<<hostname>>/<path>/ws.php?type=xmlrpc
For example: to use Nomoa.com, you would enter
http://www.nomoa.com/ws.php?type=xmlrpc
(we don't need to use the <path> option for nomoa.com)
Click the "Next" button
This screen will show you a progress bar and changing text with a little information of what WLW is doing.
When it is finished. please post articles to your site.
Security, Useability Update.

Font Name Selection. Font Selection has been enabled, and seems to work in my limited testing. Again, I don't usually use/recommend this feature so there are probably a number of gaping holes.
Font Size Selection. Font Size Selection is enabled although misleading with the '10'. Font Selection is currently only based on HTML Font Size settings of smallest, smaller, small, medium, large, larger, largest => (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
Interesting(?) bug at the moment is that the compose control doesn't change display according to the font-size setting, although it does add it to the html.
Account Selection. A Quick Access combo-box on the Standard Toolbar allows the user to quickly select the account they wish to publish to.
File Upload. Added separate Menu/Toolbar option for uploading miscellaneous file. Toolbar item is to the right of Insert Image, Insert Hyperlink. Menu Item is under Edit | Insert | File Upload.
The feature had been in place, as part of the Image Upload, but the additional menu/toolbar option just makes it easier to find.
FTP Upload. Supports a scan for sub-directories of the base remotepath specified in Account Upload Options.
This is a cleanup assistant to allow you to categorise the uploads of your photos with the use of sub-directories/folders.
The directory scan is performed as part of the login validation in Account Options and if sub-directories exist then they are displayed in the drop-down combo box when you select a file for upload.
FTP Upload SSL. Changed the back-end libraries from a Net 1.x sockets manual ftp mechanism to using Net 2.0 FtpWebRequest which has built in support for SSL. This is for the more security minded who wish to not have their username/password passing through the Internet in the 'clear.'
Unfortunately, I don't have an SSL ftp server so I have no idea whether this 'feature' as coded, works.
FTP Upload Queuing. As an often offline person, it's frustrating having to remember that a photo was supposed to go up with a post, now a rudimentary ftp queue system is set in place. All you have to do is select 'queue' in the 'FTP Select a File to Upload' dialog.
The image/file link is put into your post, but the file is pushed up only after you press the Article "Post" button.
