If you're planning to bring Technology items to Tonga ? Be prepared for when it isn't Technology anymore.
Of course there's always 'other' things to do than dweebing on your computer or your internet connection, but be reminded that all those fine gadgets may break, fail while you're over here. But more than breaking, the thing to be prepared for is the day it does break and you can't get it fixed locally.
No problems, it happens in the US or Australia, the only difference is that the local service shop can ship it somewhere in country to get it fixed. I remember my Kodak digital camera that broke while I was in Australia (Sydney) and we took it in for servicing and they sent it to Melbourne (this is Kodak Sydney sending to Kodak Melbourne) for service. So it took three weeks for the thing to get back, but you had that feeling that they were addressing the problem 'locally.'
Another camera problem was when our Canon SLR broke and dad drove for an hour to get to Canon's Sydney office and sat at the foyer for the rest of the day so he could get the thing fixed.
So, things techno break and break often. Just be prepared that you might have to carry it back overseas to get it fixed. Or, beg someone else to carry it back for you and then beg someone else to bring it with them.
SO, all you budding techno-dweebs with your laptops planning to come to Tonga. If your laptop doesn't break while you're here, good for you. But be forewarned.
Sam T (sitting beside his dead laptop, which is only the 2nd time this laptop has died)
