Manager IT Services

Looks like the net's really opening up, and all those wanna-bes who think they can manage a wanna-be Tech shop need not apply with Shoreline Communications who are now in the hunt for a Manager for their IT Services to replace Mr. Piveni Piukala who resigned under strained circumstances recently.

As mentioned previously, Mr. Hekisou Fifita has been approached, another Tech I've been waiting on to fix some problems customers are having with his services has recently been interviewed as well.

So, if you think you can help turn-around any whoes at Shoreline/Tonfon, please do not hesitate to contact their main offices at Nuku'alofa, Tongatapu or by email by referring to there web presence at http://www.tonfon.to and http://www.shoreline.to Remember the going rate, according to the Kele'a is TOP$100,000 for a very well qualifed individual and they may just negotiate on a team for you.

We're not quite sure what the job requirements are but just a little scraping from Tavake's notes may include:

* Signing a restrictive contract that gags you from spelling your name after you leave the company ?
* Fixing the broken Billing System using Microsoft FoxPro
* Fixing the broken Accounting System (PeachTree) so you can't get details out of it.
* Turning a blind eye when you know that your working but not charging out
* Run up a few entertainment accounts doing something to promote the company
* Pretending to Fix the Internet services for your customers
* Supporting the Pacific Royale's Internet Cafe {Hardware & Software repairs}
* Liaising with management who don't listen to you, because they already know you don't know?

Wow!!!

Seriously, if anyone out there is remotely qualified to take the helm over at Shoreline/Tonfon, please give them a call. They don't know what they're doing with recruiting, but they are also an important part of the economy and can do with as much help as they can do.

ciao,

Sam T.

Hi Sam, i totally agree with you. The services that TF & the power output of Shoreline are providing to the country are seriously sub standard. For example on the power side, the system lacks proper protection and power regulation control to prevent spikes and surges (as well as dips and sags) in the system. This has resulted in (as most IT repair techo's have discovered) blown motherboards, PC components, modems and the like. How many motherboards and components has any techo reading this in Tonga changed?? Of course it keeps us in a job (thanks Shoreline!) but costs the community and business thousands of $$ each year. The lack of concern for safety of Shorelines own employees is also a worry. There have been a number of serious accients and deaths (particulary of linesmen) working on the Shoreline system. Despite the poor condition of the electrical system, its apparent that the company lacks sufficient knowledge of OSH (occupational Safety & health ) and even worse...lacks an adequate caring attitude. So Sam you are right...Who wants Piveni's old job. By now its been filled. But with the sky rocketting electricity prices, its difficult to determine if the unit cost of electricity is linked to the cost of Diesel of the cost of Ramalal's drinking habbit. who knows?
