Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that Matangi Tonga's run with PSA stories, as well as Radio Australia and others who feed of these two, but you really haven't made it until you've been displayed on The World Socialist Web Site http://www.wsws.org Published by the International Commitee of the Fourth International (ICFI)
Tonga public servants reject redundancy offer
Tonga Public Service Association (PSA) members have rejected a redundancy package offered to 400 public servants as part of government cost-cutting to slash 1,000 jobs.
PSA interim secretary Mele Amanaki said the current redundancy package, a year’s salary and entitlements, is limited to those who have served 15 years or more in the civil service and should be expanded to cover a wider group of workers. Most of those volunteering for redundancy are nearing retirement and the government is unlikely to reach its target of 1,000.
Either the PSA current stance is drawing support from all sectors of our world community, or we're seeing that we're as much socialist as democractic in this movement (is that spossible?)

Listening around, it seems from my perspective that the PSA has lost a lot of local support over there recent Ministerial Appointments fiasco (i.e. the news leaking that they (or at least Mele 'Amanaki) wishes to make Ministerial appointments and sack the existing government at the same time.
On the other hand, their campaign to get people to believe that the Tonga Government have signed a TOP$60 Million loan is causing the exact effect they want, the people are growing more and more unhappy with the Shoreline Group.
It's tough for the Prime Minister, if you tell people 3 times that you haven't signed or entered a loan discussion, what else can you do?
