Tonfon Internet service a disaster this week (so far)

Aaaahhhhh, pulling my hair out kind of experience with the Internet this week.

1st, we've got a few seriously important email/communiques going between here and out there (not in Tonga.) Unfortunately, Tonfon's been doing some 'experimentation' and this week has hit the roof in poor infrastructure through their usually great service.

The Internet just went down for a good part of Monday, but it eventually came back up around noon. Tuesday, and it seems whatever their problems were, they've finally isolated it away from having their whole Internet down but only having ours down!!! Double aarrghhhhh!!!

It's kind of weird, because while cooking lunch I overheard Shoreline's advertising for some new bodies.

Good luck, because if the service gets any worse (as their mobile telephone service degraded to being useless for our cause) then the switching cost is minimal for most people (just that many of them don't know.)

'Ofa and I were in on the ground floor (at the beginning) when Tonfon released their mobile service in Tonga through the purchase of TWO mobile phones so we could keep in touch while moving around. Things were great in the early days with great coverage even in the bush (as compared to TCC's then abysmal coverage outside town.)

Fast forward a couple of years and now we are proud owners of TCC mobile numbers, and have bought quite a few for friends, so that you can keep in touch on the move. The days of having been Tonfon Mobile phone customers are long gone and the service areas we needed has gone from poor to worse so we never looked back.

Fast forward some more and again our early adoption of Tonfon's Internet Service is looking like a shakey investment at the moment. TCC's DATA Anywhere, admittedly not that great, was the first mass appeal Internet service. Fixed at $99.00 a home owner can have dedicated Internet service. Shoreline had similar plans but were beaten to the gong on the pricing and are playing catch-up.

Unfortunately, the main draw of the Internet connection from Tonfon has been our experience of a superior service. Two days of spotty, crappy Internet service is not looking good for our 'superior service preferred supplier.'

Hey guys, please stop yo-yoing the DNS Server, or the Gateway or whatever it is your doing because it sure as hell is screwing up the rest of us real bad!!!

(edit: I'm referring to the DNS Server here because I can connect to my out-of-Tonga servers consistently if I use their IP addresses instead of DNS Names, so it implies that something is screwey or screwing with the DNS Server at Tonfon)
