You can't believe everything you hear, or read on the Internet, trust me.
It can never be overstated, over-repeated that you can't believe everything you read or hear, whether it's from that favourite newspaper, news reader or your neighbour. Sometimes what they tell you is just outright not right while other times it can be just outright gossip.
My dear cousin, one of mum's favourites (for some unknown reason ?), was recently 'resurrected' after having been given for dead. We got phone calls here in Tonga asking for confirmation whether it is true that he's died. So we had to make calls to Australia and likewise the rumours spread like wildfire and people from around the globe were calling all over the place for confirmation.
I hear of calls from Seattle, Salt Lake City, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, England. Wow, the tele-lou-niu can really get around quickly.
(Un)Fortunately, he was doing just fine. And to prove it, here's a photo I took of him last night (yesterday afternoon.)
On that note, he mentioned that if he got a dollar or two from everyone who called (or pretended concern for his welfare) he'd be able to cover a few of his bills or nofo tu'umalie (one of the two.)
Anyhooos, the good thing is that people tried to make a confirmation. The bad was that people were really worried. Double check stuff you hear on the Internet and keep the peace.
ciao,
Sam T.

LOL...
Sam T...sounds like my name has been justified there!! Hoiii...what would that have been without? One must say or ask themselves....what on earth were you doing when I last called in? LOL. I think it was the case with my ex-husband's grandmother's sister in America. The funny thing was, all the funeral preparations has started and they were mourning from Cape Town to the Bluff here in NZ...lol. I think if that were the case later, that she was alive and well...goodness gracious me!! God fobid that ever to happen to ME...lol. I think another goes with this story...(or was it just plain luma goss?). Anyway, news had spread around town about a kii motua (apparently dying) who's last request was for his children to bring along some corned beef (cos' he felt hungry). Well the children did just that (piled up the kii motua's room with corned beef tins), then after all this the kii motua turns to the kids and asks them to bring along his puha mate (ready for his coffin now) to which he settled into. Well the children had placed the lid on the puha and was about to leave the room in peace, when they heard a knock coming from the coffin...the eldest of the children cries what is it now? And the kii motua cries, SORRY BUT I'VE HAD AN ACCIDENT!! LOL. I don't know what it is with this, but it's kinda like a mock apparently in Tonga now, used for luma's like those, where the death was faked and everyone was already in the motive of mourning and...burial too! Ha ha...can't tell you how hilirious that sounds...hope i'm not off peak here, but you see what I mean...likewise don't believe all you see and hear:-).
Lumas around town...like goss isn't?
