Kau ka manatu he ‘Akau
Mo Ia ne tukifa‘o ai;
‘Oku mo‘utāfu‘ua pē
‘A e loto mo e ‘atamai

‘Oku ‘ikai te u kei toka‘i
Ha ongoongo, ha koloa;
Ko Sisū ne kalusefai,
Ko Sisū pē te u manakoa

‘Oi au! He tafe hifo ē
‘A e toto mahu‘inga fau!
He ta‘ata‘a he ‘Otua,
Lilingi ke huhu‘i au!

‘Oi! He pani ta‘ata‘a
‘A si‘ono fofonga ē!
Toto ‘a e ongo nima ia,
Tutulu pē ‘a e ongo va‘e.

‘Ofa ‘e fakaā ‘e hai!
‘Ofa ka ko ha ‘ofa ē!
‘Ikai fe‘unga pē mo ia
‘A e ‘univēsi fulipē

Ka ne ‘a‘aku pē kotoa,
Ko e totongi si‘i pē ia.
Ta‘etāu mo ‘ene ‘ofa fau,
Ta‘etāu he fu‘u mamahi‘ia

Tāu ke ‘atu pē kotoa
‘A hoku laumālie ni;
‘A e loto mo e ‘atamai
‘I taimi mo ‘itāniti.

1 When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

2 Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
save in the death of Christ, my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them through his blood.

3 See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?

4 Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all. 

1 Happy the man who finds the grace,
The blessing of God's chosen race,
The wisdom coming from above,
The faith that sweetly works by love.

2 Wisdom divine! who tells the price
Of wisdom's costly merchandise?
Wisdom to silver we prefer,
And gold is dross compared to her.

3 Her hands are filled with length of days,
True riches, and immortal praise,
Riches of Christ on all bestowed,
And honour that descends from God.

4 To purest joys she all invites,
Chaste, holy, spiritual delights;
Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
And all her flowery paths are peace.

5 Happy the man who wisdom gains;
Thrice happy, who his guest retains;
He owns, and shall for ever own,
Wisdom, and Christ, and heaven, are one.
